  • Snug Fit Measurement: Devices are sized at a compressed fit.
  • Measurement loose vs skin tight can be 2-2 ½ inches.

  • Measure at fullest part of the buttocks
  • Approx: greater trochanter / symphisis pubis
  • Fitting
  • Remove & Pre-mold and fit the removable rigid panels prior to fitting.
  • Fitting is done (with doctor) sitting down and patient standing to the side.
  • Orthosis is fitted posterior and finished anterior.
  • Center support in the back
  • Bottom of support should be at the distal sacrum (crease of buttocks) in the posterior.
  • Bottom of the support should be at the symphisis pubis in the anterior
  • The anterior of the belt should catch excess abdominal tissue.
  • Put straps below breast line.
  • Normally straps fit right over left.
  • Where you apply the external straps can have an effect on the location of compression.
  • Back of support should be at least 2” below scapula and front top edge should not compress on Xiphoid Process.
  • Check for appropriate molding & fitting of the removable rigid panels.
  • Post Fitting
  • Have patient sit down to check fitting.
  • Anterior trunk length will shorten when sitting.
  • Should not catch and dig under scapula or dig into groin area
  • Have patient demonstrate how to remove and apply device.
  • Pull straps out away from body and then cross
  • Add compression from bottom to top
  • Decrease compression from top to bottom
  • Disengaging Velcro and attach at far posterior of belt where straps originate.
  • Depending on condition of the patient, application may need to be demonstrated by the healthcare provider to a secondary care-taker or significant other.
